Tis’ the season for exchanging gifts. This Christmas, whether it’s something long sought for or a tacky white elephant gift, you’re bound to receive or give some fantastic gifts. But while we enjoy this time of year let’s center our focus on what it’s all about: the absolute best Gift ever, Jesus. Let’s reflect on God’s greatest Gift to humanity while we learn how to share this amazing Gift to others.
November To Remember
We’re just going to say it: money. We know it can be a touchy subject but God has big plans for our money. So let’s talk about it! You might think your budget is hopeless, but maybe it’s just in discord. If we haven’t organized our lives, and our budgets, like God has asked us to organize them, then we may think they are dead when they are really just asleep waiting for us to unlock their full potential. Let’s make this November one to remember by making changes to our finances for the better.
The title of this series is something that we all need to hear so we’ll say it again. You matter! We all matter to God and God wants us to show others they matter to us and that they matter to Him. Even when we think we’ve disqualified ourselves from God’s never-ending, everlasting love, we still matter to Him. So what’s the matter? Go out and show others they matter both to you and God through your thoughts, words, and actions.
Do you have what it takes to be a pro? We aren’t talking about sports or cooking. We are talking about becoming a pro at life. This series tackles the lessons and teachings God has given us to show us how to be a pro at everything we do. It’s not an easy process. It takes discipline, teachability, ownership, and responsibility. It can seem overwhelming, but God has given us His playbook and with it, we can never, ever lose.
It happens all the time: we are living, moving, breathing, but it all feels stale. We are stuck in a rut and it feels like no matter what we do, we can't seem to progress past where we've always been. Nothing feels...fresh. More often than not, this is because we have been looking for different results without changing our actions, habits, and means to get results. What we need is a new perspective and to form more efficient, Godly habits. What we need is fresh air.
It's important to have different voices in our life. Different people offer different perspectives that can add up to make a more whole picture of what you're looking at or going through. That's why we thought it would be a great idea to bring in different pastors from other churches to bring their perspective on God's Word. This five week series exposes us to new ideas and pastors that have insightful looks at the Gospel and what it means for us as God's children.
At the Movies
God can use all things for His glory, even Hollywood movies. While many movies aren't created for the sole purpose of conveying a message from God, that doesn't mean God cannot speak through them. In our At the Movies series, we take a look at some popular movies and draw connections between them and Biblical principals. Grab some popcorn and get comfortable. God has something He wants to say to you.
As It Is In Heaven
God's love is never ending and is meant for each and every one of us. It doesn't sound like new news does it? But how often do we disqualify ourselves from receiving God's reckless love? We give ourselves titles and names that we were never meant to have and then wonder how we can break from the cycle of depression, anger, pain, and feeling like a pariah in the Kingdom of God. By giving God our mess and changing our mentality, we can relearn how to be a fulfilled, free, and joyful child of God.
You Asked For It
Have you ever heard, "there is no such thing as a stupid question?" At Radiate, we agree whole heartedly. That's why we opened ourselves up for your questions. You had the opportunity to submit your questions about the Bible, God, the Church, stress, parenting, love, and many, many other topics. We got a lot of different questions, but we did our best to answer the four most popular ones. Of course, in every case, God's Word had an insightful answer. It isn't always the answer we thought we were looking for, but hey, you asked for it.
Everyone wants to be a winner. It's in our blood. It's why we wake up and tackle the day. We all want to win all the time. Not just in sports or on a game of Call of Duty. No, we want to win at life. But winning takes work. How do we overcomethe obstacles we face? What is the best way to overthrow our oppressors? What do we need tooverpower to reach the finish line and win the race? Overcome. Overthrow. Overpower. This is O3. If you want to be victorious in every facet of life, this is a great place to start.
Relationships. Whether you're in one, just leaving one, or searching for the next one, we all will encounter or invest in a relationship. We want our relationships to be thriving and successful, but more often than not, we feel like we fall short. Maybe we compare our relationship to someone else's that seems very fulfilling. Maybe we are having a hard time letting go of pain from a past relationship. Like most things, the Bible has a lot to say about relationships. By establishing your base in Christ, letting go of baggage, and putting Christ at the center of your relationship, you set yourself and your partner up for a happy, healthy life with the Lord.
We've all been stuck in a rut at some point. When we feel like we aren't seeing God's provision or any growth in our lives, God still has something for us! God is calling us to wake up and move! We must have a vision for every facet of our lives. God has given us all the tools and instructions we need to see those visions come to completion. Sometimes that means, much like Peter, we must step out of the boat and out of our comfort zone to experience God's ridiculous provision. It's time to wake up!
Home for the Holidays
Home is where everyone knows your name. But, what if you have more than one name? Jesus, the real reason for the season, has many names. In order to fully understand why Jesus came to the earth in the first place, we must first fully understand His names. In Isaiah 9:6, the Prophet Isaiah refers to Jesus as "Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace." These names embody who Jesus is and how He and His Father want to guide and direct our lives.
The Blessed Life
If you've been looking for a good budget plan, it's probably been in front of you the whole time. God's Word has so much insight on how to be good stewards. There are about 500 verses in the Bible on prayer. There's another 500 or so on faith. But, there are over 2000 verses in the Bible that discuss money! It's pretty clear that God has a plan for our finances, or should we say His finances. We are managers of God's money that He has blessed us with.
October 29th, 2017, we kicked off our annual You Matter Week with a Pink Out to raise awareness for breast cancer. You Matter Week is one of our favorite times of year because we go full force for the Kingdom and serve God's people in our community. But why do we serve and how do we do it correctly? It's easy. We do it for the love of others and God and we do it with love for others and God.
Your plate is as full as ever. Work is going great but there's a lot going on. Your kids are successful and well-rounded. Your spouse is as charming and helpful as ever. You have great friends surrounding you and you're as healthy as you can be. You may even be involved and serving at your church. But when you lay down in bed at the end of the day, you just don't feel...complete. What is missing? You're doing all the "right" things. In order for our lives to feel fulfilling we must do as John says in John 3:30. "He must increase, but I must decrease."
Any Given Day
Football season is back and we are as excited as ever! We've all got our team colors on and we're swinging our rally towels. It doesn't matter if you're cheering for the Gamecocks or the Tigers, as followers of Christ we are all on the same team playing the same game. We all have our positions and we're ready to hustle. As you go through life and play your position of father or wife or brother or friend, what's your strategy to be the best you can be? This series tackles some practical things we deal with every day from marriage to social media to finances. The Bible is our playbook on how to handle everything in our life. Let's get ready to rumble!
A Way in the Wilderness
As Radiate enters into a new season, God has shown us what He wants for His church. He has shown us what He wants for our church. Isaiah 43:19 says, "Behold, I will do something new, now it will spring forth; will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, rivers in the desert." This verse not only applies to our church, but it applies to all of us. Where is the place in your life, in your world, that others would call a desert or wilderness? Wherever or whatever that is, God can still make a way there. He can always make a way.
Does this sound familiar? "If I can just make it to the next pay check..." Or how about, "If I can just make it through the rest of the day..." How often are we just trying to survive and make it through? The truth is we are not meant to survive. We are meant tothrive. Surviving is putting in maximum effort for little results. Thriving is putting in minimal effort and getting maximum results. God has given us all the tools we need to do just that. We call these the fruits of the Spirit. Stop surviving and start thriving.
God always delivers on His promises. However, it doesn't just happen over night and it doesn't happen without some work from us. God has given us detailed instructions on how to take part in His promises and see the good fruit in our lives. Like any fruit, it all starts with a seed. How do we plant a seed? How do we take care of it as it grows? These questions and more are answered in our Rooted series.
Where does your worth come from? The laundry isn't done, your is job looming over your day like a rain cloud, and your past is lurking in the shadows of your life. Things like these do not define you though. Your worth comes from Christ. The Bible makes it very clear that women are worth more than rubies. Find your self worth in the One who loves you no matter where you came from or where you are.
Let's go back to the basics. What is baptism? Why is reading the Bible and praying so important? Why do we worship? These are all great questions no matter where we are in our walk with God. Whether you have just been made new in Christ through salvation or you've been on your spiritual journey for some time, the topics covered in Starting Point are important concepts for where you are going. Let's starting moving in the right direction.
Cut the Chaos
The kids need to be picked up from school. The laundry isn't done yet. Your boss persists to asks you for that report. Your friend is having a party this weekend but you haven't picked up a gift yet. Meanwhile your social media is filled with both the news of the world and pictures of your cousin's family beach trip that you have to comment on. All the while you've lost sight of what's really important. Christ came to cut the chaos in our lives. While having a well rounded, busy life can be a great thing, we must keep our priorities in check. Putting Jesus first can cut the chaos from your hectic life.
Be a Bringer
You just saw the biggest blockbuster of the summer and it was everything you hoped it would be. For the next two weeks, everyone you talk to is going to hear about how much you love that movie. It's natural. We want to share the good things in our lives. Are you sharing the greatest thing in your life with others? If we love Jesus more than anything and have seen the things He's done, we won't stop telling people about Him.
We are all living life, day in and day out. But are we living it to the fullest? We have been blessed with an amazing opportunity to live life and we shouldn't let it go to waste. God gives us very specific instructions and tools that we can use to unlock a full life. They're easy: purpose, connection, love, and joy. With these seemingly simple concepts, we can all live a full life that is center around the Creator who gave us life in the first place.
5 Year Birthday Bash
It's Radiate's birthday! We've been so blessed to see God move in people's lives over the past five years. We've seen marriages restored, finances revitalized, and lives healed all due to what God has done through our church and community. Let's take a moment and celebrate all that God has done. This is just the beginning though. We are going to keep working until Jesus runs this town.
Love and Marriage
Love. It's something we are all longing for. It's something that is at the heart of every God-centered relationship. Often times we think of love as butterflies and being swept off our feet. But the truth is, true love isn't a feeling. It's a mentality and it's work. Whether you've been married so long you finish each other sentences or you're still looking for the right "one," God's Word has something to teach you about love in your life.
Small Tweaks Equal Giant Peaks
Imagine you're in a forest. Towering pine trees are scattered all around. It's your job to find the perfect tree and chop it down. You find the tree you're searching for and begin to chop, one swing at a time. With each swing you are slowly chipping away at your goal. Making huge changes in your life works the same way. You don't chop down a tree in one swing and you don't change your life in one motion. It takes small, manageable tweaks over and over until you see a giant peak.
