Busting Through The Blocks!

Have you ever been driving down a road after a storm or something and there's a tree blocking the road? What about driving and without warning (except for the 100 Dept. of Transportation signs that you ignored) a orange barricade is blocking your entrance to a road you need? I know I'm not the only person that's been in that situation. You need to get somewhere but there's something happening that is blocking your entrance. I believe this is a great image/example of what happens in our minds daily.

Your mind can create a block that keeps other thoughts from entering, or sometimes even from exiting, and they can both be ineffective, possibly even hurtful to us. Maybe the thoughts of a difficult childhood is seemingly trapped behind the barricade and can't leave. Maybe the thoughts of freedom are trapped in front of the barricade and we can't seem to quite grasp the freedom of Jesus yet. What I've found is that often what's creating those barricades are past experiences, good or bad.

This week we are going to begin a 4 week series on the topic of finances. Money touches everyone's life. Old or young, rich or poor, employed or unemployed; finances can dictate much in our lives. It dictates how much we go out to eat, how much we spend on birthday gifts, and how much we are prepared for our future. I also believe that part of the difficulty with finances in many of our lives is simply that we've allowed barricades to form that have kept harmful thoughts in, and freeing thoughts out. After all, where your thoughts go, your actions follow.

Did you know that there are more than 500 verses in The Bible concerning prayer, almost 500 verses concerning faith, but more than 2,000 verses concerning money and possessions? Did you know that finances and financial freedom was a major point of discussion with Jesus? Did you know that God wants way more FOR you than He wants FROM you?

I don't know about you but I'm about tired of having to stress over money a lot. Worrying about every single penny that is spent, because what if it's not there. I'm tired of watching one of the #1 reasons marriages split apart is because of money. I'm frustrated watching individuals lose all hope and purpose because their bank account isn't where it needs to be. I think it's time we remove some of those barricades, barrel straight through them, and release some harmful mentalities and embrace some beneficial ones!

Join me this Sunday as we begin to dissect scripture and talk about The Blessed Life! 10 & 11:30 this Sunday. And while you're at it bring someone with you. Everyone deserves to hear about the blessings God has designed for us!
